  • Art With Talk: A Gentle Online Art Space for Parents & Caregivers to Heal, Create & Reconnect

Join Art With Talk – an online art therapy-inspired membership for parents and caregivers. Support your mental wellbeing through creative sessions, community, and emotional expression. Hey friends 💛 I’ve been quietly working on something close to my heart – and today, I’m finally opening the doors to it. Art With Talk is my new online membership – a gentle, creative sanctuary where we make art and have honest, meaningful conversations to support emotional and mental wellbeing. It’s for anyone craving a moment of calm, a creative outlet, or a safe space to reconnect with themselves. Especially for parents and caregivers navigating the demands of daily life – including those supporting children with additional needs – this is for you. 💬 Why This Membership Was Born Over the years, as I navigated some deeply personal challenges, I discovered a quiet strength – not by pushing through, but by creating. I picked up a pencil, a brush, some colours – and slowly began to reconnect with myself. I wasn’t trying to make something perfect. I was telling my story – through shape, colour, texture, and line. Art became a lifeline. A way to check in with how I was really feeling. A way to express what I couldn’t always put into words. That’s when I realised: this could help others too. Art With Talk was created especially for parents and caregivers – including those who’ve experienced IVF, health challenges, or find it hard to get out and about – to have a space to reflect, express, and reset. This is a space to: 🌿 Reconnect with your inner world through expressive, pressure-free art 🌿 Explore your story through creativity – not perfection 🌿 Use simple art practices as tools for emotional healing and growth 🌿 Share and be supported by a compassionate, understanding community 🌿 Learn to listen to yourself again – through shape, colour, texture, and conversation Whether it’s a single brushstroke or a stick figure, this isn’t about how it looks – it’s about how it feels. It’s about reminding yourself: you matter. You deserve moments that are just for you – to breathe, reflect, and remember who you are, beyond your roles, responsibilities, and the noise of everyday life. Together, we’ll grow a space where: 🖌️ Art and emotion meet 🖌️ Conversation flows gently and naturally 🖌️ Healing is welcomed and supported 🖌️ And your story truly matters We’ll create ourselves in abstract art – drawing pets, families, gardens, or just how we feel. You’ll be invited to share your story, add words to your art, and post your artwork on our member site. We’ll even celebrate an Art of the Month and nurture our own inner circle during monthly group meetups. Because when we create together, talk together, and hold space for one another – we’re not alone. Let’s turn thoughts into colour and feelings into texture. And today, I’d love to invite you to join as a founding member. 🌿 🌟 As a founding member, you’ll receive: ✨ Weekly live creative sessions from my studio ✨ A growing, kind community of like-minded souls ✨ Simple tools and prompts to support emotional wellbeing through art ✨ Gentle, welcoming guidance – no pressure to “be good at art,” just come as you are The founding member price is £20/month or £200/year, and as a thank-you, you’ll also receive: 💫 A lifetime discount on your membership 💫 The opportunity to help shape the future of this space 💫 Behind-the-scenes access as we build this together Spots are limited, and doors close on 20th May – so if this speaks to your heart, I’d love you to be part of it from the very beginning. 👉 To join, simply send me a message, and I’ll share all the details with you. 💌 Thank you for being here – truly. Whether you join or not, your presence means the world, and I’m so grateful for this creative journey we’re on together. Let’s create, talk, and reset – together. With warmth, Susanna x

  • About Me as an Artist: Finding Joy in Creativity

As an artist, my journey has been a colourful exploration of self-expression and emotional healing. For overworked mothers and fathers, the daily grind can easily overshadow the joy of creativity. This blog aims to provide a space where you can unwind, find happiness, and feel emotionally supported. Together, let’s rediscover the fun of creating art, much like we did as children, without needing any prior experience. The Power of Creativity Creativity holds immense power, especially for those navigating the challenges of parenthood and life. Art offers a sanctuary, allowing us to express feelings we may struggle to articulate. It acts as a release, providing emotional relief during turbulent times. Whether it’s doodling, painting, or making collages, these activities can alleviate stress and promote mindfulness. Studies suggest that engaging in creative activities can significantly lower cortisol levels—the hormone related to stress. Imagine taking just a few minutes each day to indulge in a burst of colour or a playful doodle. It could be the time you need to recharge. Colorful paint tubes ready for artistic expression. Reconnecting with Our Inner Child As adults, we often forget the unfiltered joy of creating. Children approach art with excitement and curiosity, unencumbered by self-doubt. This blog serves to remind you of the importance of reconnecting with that inner child. Imagine a time when you picked up a crayon and let your imagination run wild. That same creative spirit is still inside you, waiting to blossom. Allow yourself to create freely—there’s no right or wrong way to express yourself. In fact, some of the most authentic art comes from a place of playfulness. Here are a few ways to rekindle that inner child: Set Up a Creative Space : Dedicate a corner of your home to your art supplies. Surround yourself with colors that inspire you. Grab Your Favorite Materials : Whether it’s colored pencils, watercolors, or even recycled materials, use what brings you joy. Schedule Playdates with Yourself : Just as you would for your children, schedule art time for yourself. Treat it as a non-negotiable appointment in your day. Letting Go of Perfectionism One of the most liberating aspects of being creative is letting go of the notion of perfection. In our busy lives, we often strive for perfection in everything we do, including parenting. However, when it comes to art, imperfection is not only accepted—it's celebrated. Art is not about creating a masterpiece; it’s about the process and how it feels to create. Try to resist the urge to judge your work too harshly. Focus instead on the joy and satisfaction derived from the act of making. To foster a healthy mindset, practice these techniques: Create Abstractly : Mix coloUrs, create shapes, and let your emotions flow onto the canvas without expectations. Embrace Mistakes : Every "mistake" is an opportunity for growth. Incorporate it into your artwork rather than seeing it as a flaw. Share Your Process : Post updates on social media or among friends to destigmatiSe the fear of imperfection. Connect with others and share the fun! Creative workspace filled with vibrant art supplies. The Healing Power of Art Art has profound therapeutic benefits which can be particularly comforting for those processing loss or navigating difficult times. Creating can serve as a powerful outlet for expressing complex emotions, providing a way to process grief and stress. Engaging in art therapy, whether guided or self-directed, can foster emotional resilience. Drawing, painting, or any form of creation allows feelings to manifest visually, offering clarity and reflection. If you’re interested in using art as a healing tool, consider: Journaling with Art : Combine words and images to express your feelings. This can help in processing significant life events. Mindful Coloring : Engaging in adult coloring books can be a simple yet effective way to calm the mind. Create Memorial Art : If dealing with loss, consider creating pieces that honor those you have lost. This can be a beautiful way to celebrate their life. Peaceful sunset landscape offering a tranquil environment for creativity. Embrace Your Unique Artistic Journey As you embark on your artistic journey, remember that everyone’s path is unique. There are no timelines or expectations; what matters is the experience and the joy it brings you. Allow yourselves to get messy, to laugh, and to unwind without judgment. Art is an opportunity to express your authentic self and to reconnect with what brings you joy. It is your time to shine brightly, to create without boundaries, and to find solace in the beautiful mess that is life. Take a moment to reflect on your journey. How has creativity played a role in your life? What does it mean to you? Embrace your unique story, and let that guide your artistic endeavors. Let's continue to celebrate creativity, uplift one another, and find beauty in both the simple and the profound. Art is not just a hobby; it’s a channel for healing, a form of expression, and a way to hold onto our inner child while navigating the complexities of adult life. Start today, and allow art to become your safe space, a refuge from the chaos, and a wellspring of joy. Embrace your creativity—you deserve it.

  • Artists and understand them

"Artists often struggle to write about themselves; when it comes to creating our bios, it can feel like pulling out our hair. We might share many details, but the true reason behind why we create often remains difficult to express. In essence, I talk a lot, but deep down, I am quite shy. I have a lot to give but often find it challenging to translate my thoughts or connect deeply. I understand pain, loss, and the effort required to achieve what we want in life. Art has always been a guiding force in my life, creating a path to help me move forward. I may not be the best artist, and that’s okay, because for me, it’s about the soul of the creation—not making it look 100% like the object. I greatly admire other artists who evoke deep emotions through their work. For me, creating is an experience that eases pain and helps me understand my thoughts. When I place the brush on paper or canvas, it can transfer or even lift away emotions when needed. Take a leap with me, and let’s connect through art to rise together."
